Love Like Jesus

John 15:12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.

This one is the golden rule. It seems so simple, treat others as you want to be treated. In a world ruled by technology, is it that simple anymore? If you see someone struggling in public, is it easier just to look down at your phone and pretend you don't realize what's going on? What about seeing an old coworker/acquaintance at the grocery store, but we tend to look the other way because of not wanting to get wrapped up in conversation, or for whatever reason, don't want to talk to that person?

My wife and I were out to eat at a restaurant a week ago, our waitress seemed to have her mind in a different place the whole time. By the time our food came, we did not receive our drinks, I had to go up to the server station to ask for silverware, she just wasn't there. It would've been very easy to be rude to her, and some may say rightfully so, she's there doing her job, she should have to do it. On the other hand, I have no idea what kind of night or day this person has had. Was it problems with kids? Spouse? Instead of judging, I just landed a smile, was courteous, and still left a decent tip. I also prayed for her later that day.

As a society I feel like we just need to extend each other more grace and love. Which is hard to do, especially in traffic or during your busy day. I pray for your day today to show extra compassion for others, try to go out of your way to let someone know Jesus love.
